What is stainless steel band?
Stainless steel band is a strip bended around the aerial pole for the attachment purpose of any aerial fitting. The outdoor aerial infrastructure requires a robust attachment element which is stainless steel banding. The application areas are municipals, road signs, power cabling deployment, telecommunications, video surveillance.
Stainless steel band have excellent strength, precision and surface finish and are widely used in pillar industries such as aerospace, petrochemicals, automobiles, textiles, electronics, home appliances, computers and precision machining.
What is the stainless steel band processing method?
According to the processing method, stainless steel strips can be divided into cold-rolled stainless steel strips and hot-rolled stainless steel strips. Cold-rolled stainless steel strip has many advantages such as smooth and flat surface, high dimensional accuracy, and good mechanical properties. It can be rolled or processed into coated steel plates. Hot-rolled stainless steel strip is a steel strip with a thickness of 1.80mm-6.00mm and a width of 50mm-1200mm produced by a hot rolling mill. Hot-rolled stainless steel has many advantages such as low hardness, easy processing, and good ductility.
There are three main differences between cold-rolled stainless steel strips and hot-rolled stainless steel strips:
1. Cold-rolled stainless steel strip has better strength and yield, while hot-rolled stainless steel strip has better ductility and toughness.
2. The thickness of cold-rolled stainless steel strip is ultra-thin, while the thickness of hot-rolled stainless steel strip is thicker.
3. The surface quality, appearance and dimensional accuracy of cold-rolled stainless steel strips are better than those of hot-rolled stainless steel strips.
What types of stainless steel belts?
1. Austenitic stainless steel strip: composed of austenitic microstructure with high chromium, nickel and molybdenum content, known for its high strength, ductility and corrosion resistance levels.
2. Ferritic stainless steel strip: Containing more than 12% chromium but less than 20% carbon content, it has lower cost and good ductility.
3. Martensitic stainless steel strip: contains more chromium and does not contain nickel. It can be low carbon steel or high carbon steel. Wear resistance and mechanical properties are some of its outstanding properties.
4. Austenitic-ferritic (duplex) stainless steel strip: composed of equal proportions of ferrite and austenite, it is more corrosion-resistant and stronger than other stainless steel types.
5. Precipitation hardened stainless steel strip: similar to nickel-based alloys and other stainless steel strips, but containing smaller amounts of aluminum, titanium, copper and phosphorus. Through age hardening treatment, the elements precipitate into hard intermetallic compounds, increasing strength and hardness.
In addition, according to different processing methods, stainless steel strips can also be divided into stainless steel coil strips, stainless steel spring strips, stainless steel cold-rolled strips, stainless steel polished strips, etc.
How to choose the right stainless steel banding?
1. Standards: Different countries and regions have different stainless steel standards, such as China’s national standard, the United States’ ASTM, Japan’s JIS, etc. Jera Line adopts European EN standards.
2. Material: The materials of stainless steel strips mainly include austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, etc. Their respective performance characteristics need to be considered when selecting.
3. Application environment: Different application environments have different requirements for the corrosion resistance, strength, hardness and other properties of stainless steel strips.
4. Size: The thickness and width of the stainless steel strip need to be selected according to the actual application requirements.
5. Surface treatment: The surface treatment method of the stainless steel belt will affect its corrosion resistance and appearance. Common surface treatment methods include matte, 2B, BA, mirror, brushed, sandblasting, etc.
6. Edge: The edge shape of the stainless steel strip is also a factor that needs to be considered. Common edge shapes include burrs, round edges, square edges, etc.
7. Mechanical properties: The mechanical properties of stainless steel strips, such as strength, hardness, ductility, etc., need to be selected according to actual application requirements.
8. Packaging type: The packaging method of stainless steel belts needs to consider the convenience of transportation and storage. Jera Line is packed with steel strips in a portable plastic shell, and can also be packaged in cartons.
How is cold rolled steel strip made?
Cold-rolled steel strips are made from hot-rolled steel strips and mainly include the following steps:
1. Pickling: Hot-rolled strip steel needs to be pickled to remove iron oxide scale on the surface.
2. Cold rolling: Strip steel is rolled through a cold rolling mill at normal temperature to form strip steel and thin plates.
3. Annealing: Cold-rolled strip steel needs to be annealed to obtain the required properties.
4. Smoothing: The annealed strip needs to be smoothed to ensure its flatness and dimensional accuracy.
5. Cutting and Inspection: The strip is cut to the required size and inspected for defects.
